Toad Busters win environment award

A group dedicated to wiping out cane toads in the Kimberley has been awarded a national United Nations World Environment Day award.

Kimberley Toad Busters won the community category for their efforts to eradicate the pest using more than 5000 dedicated volunteers who have clocked up more than a million hours.

TOURISTS may soon be lured to the Northern Territory to hunt and kill millions of cane toads that experts say have thrown the food chain into disarray.

Mr Sawyer said the Great Toad Muster, which is held each year near the territory and West Australian border, has become popular with tourists.

The great toad muster is from 11 September until 11 October this year, I would love to join but just checked the air fares from Perth to Kunnunura and they are already sky high in the week that I have holidays from uni... what a pity.
