Kimberley beach foam not considered threat
Swimmers are being told not to worry about discoloured foam washing up along some sections of the Kimberley coast.
The foam has been most notable at Broome's Cable Beach, where the main swimming section has been stained bright green for several days.
The Department of Environment and Conservation says the foam is caused by a type of cynobacteria, which can cause minor skin irritation but is not harmful.
It is common around the start of the wet season when there is a rapid increase in water temperatures.
